    El Comediante

    El Comediante

El Comediante (Spanish for the comedian) is your cocktail for this weekend.  And the next few weekends.  Made with Red Bell Pepper Rum, Ginger Syrup, lime, ginger ale, red wine and mint, this colorful cocktail is packed with flavor and aroma.  The red wine floating on top pairs beautifully with the red bell pepper rum.  And with each sip, you’ll get a nosefull of spicy fresh mint.  Get a few of these in you, and you’ll be giggling all evening long.  Continue reading for the recipe plus a video from my recent segment on San Diego Channel 6!!

    Lime Juice and Mint

On September 10, I demoed two recipes on Channel 6 San Diego Living – Ceviche Tostadas and Watermelon Basil Agua Fresca.  Enjoy!

    Servings 1 cocktail

    Ingredients

    • 2 oz. Red Bell Pepper Rum
    • 1/2 oz. Ginger Syrup
    • 1/2 oz. lime juice
    • Cold ginger ale
    • Red wine (I used cabernet sauvignon)
    • Mint sprig

    Instructions

    • Combine rum, ginger syrup and lime juice in a short glass with ice. Stir until well combined and chilled.
    • Add ginger ale until almost topped off. Carefully pour red wine on top. Don't add too much. Just enough to have a layer floating on top (see photo above). Finish with a sprig of mint.
